UNICEF Accepts 9 Cryptocurrencies | Donations

The French arm of the United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF) has announced that it has begun accepting donations in the nine most popular cryptocurrencies today..

UNICEF France decided to focus on a new class of altruists, therefore, expanded the list of sources of private funding and benefactors. Now anyone who wants to help children can donate BTC, ETH, XRP, BCH, EOS, XLM, LTC, XMR or DASH to the fund. All donations in supported virtual currencies are accepted directly on the website.

Sebastien Lyon, head of UNICEF France, says that the use of blockchain technology and cryptocurrencies in the field of charity will open up new opportunities for public donations and will contribute to helping children in different countries. Noting that in this area so far few people are introducing such innovative solutions, but they are becoming more and more democratic.

This is not the first UNICEF initiative. In February, the organization launched the Game Chaingers campaign, during which gamers installed special ether mining software for the benefit of the Foundation. Since May, a similar action has been carried out by the Austrian division. It provides consent for the Foundation to use a portion of the computing power of a PC while browsing the Internet through a browser. The number of altruistic miners already exceeds 22 thousand people.

Russian organizations are not inferior to foreign innovators. Raiffeisenbank announced the first transaction on «Masterchain».
