Central Bank Cryptocurrencies | What are they planning?
Dutch financial conglomerate ING develops a technical solution for the secure storage of its clients’ cryptocurrency assets.
According to Reuters, the project is still at an early stage of development, and its creation is most likely carried out by a team from the Amsterdam branch of the bank.
ING representatives told reporters that they consider working with digital assets and tokens to be a promising area of activity, and also pay special attention to developments related to blockchain technology in order to provide their clients with access to this sector..
In addition, the bank cooperates with the R3 blockchain consortium and is already developing a solution for trade finance based on a distributed ledger..
If ING starts providing services related to the storage of cryptocurrencies, then it will be one of the few large traditional financial institutions operating in this area..
These include the cryptocurrency division Fidelity Investments, which already provides storage services for digital assets and plans to launch an exchange, as well as a trading Bakkt platform launched by Intercontinental Exchange.
