HTC Says Its Exodus ‘Blockchain Smartphone’ Will Mine Monero (XMR)

HTC to release an app for mining Monero on smartphones

HTC is working on DeMiner application, with which users of blockchain smartphones can mine Monero cryptocurrency (XMR).

The mobile miner is jointly developed by Taiwanese consumer electronics giant and ASIC manufacturer Midas Labs. Partners plan to release DeMiner in Q2 2020.

According to the announcement, the app will automatically stop mining when the phone is in normal use or when the charger is disconnected.

The developers claim that DeMiner will strengthen the decentralization of the Monero network and enable cost-effective mining. EXODUS 1S users will be able to mine XMR for about 0.38 cents per day, while the electricity costs will be less than 50% of the total amount.

For comparison, when mining Monero on a regular laptop, the daily income will now be about 6 cents, but the cost of energy spent on mining will be 2-3 times higher.
