Facebook introduced ultra-thin VR glasses
Facebook has announced the development of the thinnest virtual reality headset to date.
The existing prototype lacks the bulky elements that previously formed the box-shaped VR headset. The new device looks like large sunglasses with 0.75 cm thick lenses..
According to the description of the glasses, they use a new class of displays with holographic optics and an advanced light refraction system, which can significantly reduce the size. At the same time, the headset can create vivid color three-dimensional graphics, superior in quality to the image from LEDs in modern devices..
So far, the prototype works only in green tones, but in the future the developers intend add full spectrum support. Ultimately Facebook wants to create a fully functional 10g VR headset, however, companies such as Google, Apple and Panasonic are also moving in this direction, and the competition will only intensify.
