Boeing plans to get people to the moon “the fastest way”

Boosters on the Boosters & Other Ideas For Improving Space Shuttles

Aerospace company Boeing proposed to NASA a project of a system for landing people on the lunar surface with a minimum number of stages, without changing rockets and a transfer station.

NASA is currently accepting proposals from private space corporations as part of the Artemis lunar landing program, which involves the delivery of astronauts to the surface of the satellite. The agency plans to use a capsule for this. «Orion» on an SLS rocket docked with a lunar orbital station, to which astronauts have to cross to get out to the surface.

However, Boeing offers to dock immediately with «Orion», to land the crew directly on the lunar surface. In addition, the project will allow to descend and ascend astronauts back to the station using one a pre-equipped rocket without additional transitional stages.

According to the developers of the system, it reduces the number of stages to a minimum, which reduces the complexity of the flight and provides the safest and shortest path to the satellite surface..

In addition to plans for the exploration of space bodies, Boeing wants to release a premium flying car.
